The Cool Kids:

Antoine “Mikey Rocks” Reed + Evan “Chuck Inglish” Ingersoll = The Cool Kids.

The Cool Kids met in 2005, when Mikey Rocks wanted to buy a Chuck Inglish beat streamed on myspace. A few moths later, the two met in order to finalize this business transaction. This business meeting evolved into an extended studio session, which began “The Cool Kids.”

The two emcees share a common appreciation for Eric B. and Rakim, two iconic emcees of the golden age of hip hop. The combination of conscious hip hop influence and electronic music results in The Cool Kids sound. Diplo and A-Trak both offered the newly founded duo opportunities on their respective labels, but they decided to stay indie. The development of their label (C.A.K.E.) and tour collaborations with MIA and Rock the Bells, allowed The Cool Kids to release two mixtapes on their own, low budget label: The Bake Sale (2008) & Gone Fishing (2009).

The Bake Sale dropped last year, and received significant critical acclaim. Gone Fishing was released as a free download on their website. This mixtape is a testament of the osmosis of hip hop and dance music, and the value of FREE MUSIC.
